Push back pallet rack system installed in a warehouse

    Pushback Rack in Florence, KY

Pushback rack in Florence, KY is the answer when you hold several pallets of each SKU and need fewer aisles. A push back racking system stores 2–6 pallets deep from a single aisle on nested carts.

It fits food and beverage producers and 3PLs that run pallet quantities by SKU, from the Walton / Richwood big boxes to the airport parks in Hebron.

How a Push Back Pallet Rack System Works

The forklift sets the first pallet on the front cart. The next pallet pushes it back one position up a slight incline. When you pull the front pallet, the one behind rolls forward to the face. Loading and picking happen from the same aisle, so rotation is last-in, first-out.

That LIFO rotation is fine for most beverage, packaging and finished-goods SKUs. If your stock is dated and has to rotate first-in, first-out, look at pallet flow rack instead.

Pushback Pallet Racking for Food, Beverage and 3PL

Food-grade 3PLs at Park South at Richwood on Logistics Blvd and C5 75 Logistics Center on Final Mile Blvd run deep pallet counts per SKU. Pushback pallet racking turns what would be three or four selective aisles into lanes, and frees that floor for staging.

In the 40 ft clear Walton buildings, we plan lanes around 56 x 50 ft column spacing so each lane depth lands between columns. Food-grade buildings also need clean rack runs that are easy to sanitize, so we keep lane lengths and flue gaps simple.

    Planning Push Back Rack Lanes

    Lane depth

2 to 6 deep. Deeper lanes add density but tie more pallets to one SKU.

    Pallet condition

Carts need sound, consistent pallets. Measure real pallets, not the spec sheet.

    Forklift fit

Counterbalance and reach trucks both work; aisle width follows the truck.

    Mixing systems

Most buildings blend pushback for deep SKUs with selective pallet racks for the long tail.

    Install Around Live Shifts

Food and air-cargo operations near CVG often run around the clock, and October to December is peak. We phase pushback installs in sections so the rest of the building keeps shipping, with experienced installation crews we schedule and manage.

Moving into new space in Burlington or Hebron? Our warehouse relocation service can move existing rack and add pushback lanes in one schedule.
